Three iPhones

What exactly is iPhone?

According to Wikipedia, the iPhone is a multimedia, Internet-enabled mobile phone designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It has a multi-touch screen with virtual keyboard and buttons.

So, basically, the iPhone is a combination of  an iPod, a tablet PC and a cellular phone.

The most well-known feature of the iPhone is perhaps its touch-screen capability. You can use your fingers to do a multitude of operations like making a call, typing text messages and browsing through music albums, to name a few. Yes, there are other touch screen machines around but the iPhone makes the operations a whole lot easier and fun.

The iPhone changes the way we get in touch with our contacts. Traditionally, we have to dial the number and wait for the contact to pick his phone up. If he picks it up, only then we know he is available. With iPhone, you know who are available in real time using compelling and popular Internet services like Skype and Yahoo! Messenger with Voice. There's no need to dial and wait to check if that particular contact is available or otherwise.

Arguably, the major drawback of the iPhone is its lack of 3G capability. However, a new model which would come out in 2008 (called iPhone 2.0) should have 3G capability.

Other features it lacks includes:
  • Blue Tooth
  • Voice dial
  • One-button turbo-dialling
  • GPS for navigation
All the above features have been available on cellphones for years.

Also you can't swap batteries yourself. You have to go to an Apple Store or ship it to Apple just to swap a new battery.

And oh, there's no memory card slot.
